How to Make Your Baby’s First Christmas Special

Christmas can be such a special time for a newly formed or newly expanded family. The opportunities for memories to be made for existing family members and fun experiences for new ones are endless! Because of this, it can be daunting for new parents trying to make the most of this most wonderful time of the year. Luckily we’ve got you covered and have come up with some ideas for making your baby’s first Christmas special.

Lasting Memories

First off, it is important to remember that your baby isn’t the only one experiencing firsts here. As new parents, you are as well! Making sure that you are taking in everything and documenting these moments is something that you and your family will appreciate for years to come.

Some great ways to document your baby’s first Christmas:

  • Footprint Ornaments: This is a fun and easy craft guaranteed to bring bright memories for years!
  • Photoshoot for a First Family Christmas Card: Christmas cards are nothing new, so why not try something different and make a whole photoshoot out of it? Plus, this is a great way to fill out a photo album!
  • Record a First Christmas Story Reading: There are few things more iconic than a good Christmas story. Extend the memory for years to come by recording this retelling.

Sometimes there is nothing like a good home video. Plus, it is always nice to show your child when they’re older that, yes, you too were once young.

The Most Important Star of the Holiday

What would a baby’s first Christmas be without some fun activities planned just for them?

A fun way to make this work for everyone involved is a memory advent calendar. Instead of chocolates behind each door, you can write out a fun new Christmas activity to try out with your newborn.

Some great options for everyone to enjoy are:

  • Going to See a Tree Lighting(Bright Trees and Christmas Carols? What’s not to like!)
  • A Trip to See Santa
  • Decorating the Tree
  • Crafting New Decorations
  • Classic Christmas Specials
  • And More!

There are so many different activities to choose from that, even though they probably won’t remember it, will ensure your newborn enjoys every moment of their first holiday season!

The First Gift

While material objects aren’t the most important part of Christmas, a baby’s first gift is, nonetheless, an important one that can be quite significant.

This is an excellent opportunity to get your child something special that will last them until they can form solid memories of it.

A stuffed animal, comfort blanket, and room decoration are all things that they will grow to love and appreciate well into their teenage years. One of the best parts is, they’re not expensive. There is no need to go all out for this one; just remain thoughtful.
