First Birthday Ideas

Is your little one about to celebrate their very first birthday? Here are 5 fun first birthday ideas to consider… 1. Teddy Bear’s Picnic “If

1. Teddy Bear’s Picnic

“If you go down in the woods today…”

Cheap, cheerful and fun! Grab your baby’s favourite teddy or toy and head down to your local park with a basket of food and a blanket.

Invite your little one’s friends along and ask them to bring their favourite teddy too!

Sit your babies and their teddies in a circle and have fun taking part in activities such as pass the parcel, parachute, sign and rhyme, Simon says and of course lunch time!

If you’re feeling adventurous, you could even put on a puppet show for your little ones to watch.

End the party with a treat by sharing out the birthday cake!

2. Visit a Petting Zoo!

Farm visits are such a fun day out for little ones and of course the experience helps to develop their understanding of the world around them.

Smithills Open Farm in Bolton is a working dairy farm which opened to the public in 2001. The farm is home to over 25 different types of animals!

If you decide to have your first birthday party here, you can look forward to meeting some of the farm’s residents by visiting their pet’s corner. Here your little ones will have the opportunity to bottle feed the lambs, hold some chicks, stroke a twelve-foot python, cuddle a baby rabbit and play with a guinea pig or two!

Aside from all the animals, your party goers will also be able to ride one of their friendly donkeys, have a bounce on the bouncy castle, enjoy some party food and hop onboard a tractor for a ride around the farm.

3. Sensory Play Session

Babies love sensory play!

Sensory play sessions are full of activities that stimulate your baby’s senses – sight, sound, smell, touch and taste.

Not only this but sensory play supports language development, cognitive growth, fine and gross motor skills, problem solving skills, and social interaction.

You might wish to host your own sensory session for your baby’s first birthday or you could decide to visit a local play centre.

Boomerang Multi Sensory Play Centre in Bury, Greater Manchester is lots of fun for babies and offers a soft play room, a sensory play room and an interactive play room for your little ones to explore.

Birthday parties are available to book and exclusive use of the centre for you and your guests can be arranged. You can find out more about what Boomerang has to offer here…
